So, we´re sitting in this palace in Granada, right...

Yep, we made it through our tasteless night in Malaga and grabbed the first bus out to the city of Granada, made famous by the amazing palaces left over from the Muslims who ruled from here, between the 10th and 15th centuries. By the time they got the boot by the Christian ´Reconquistadors´ (catchy, i know), the Muslims had built some pretty tidy ol´ decoration onto the walls and furbished the place right through in a stunning array of tile, wood and marble. We got there early to avoid the busloads of camera-toting, khaki-short wearing types, and had a blast.

Sufficed to say, we ended up with over 300 photos ourselves, and more than a few blisters on our feet. Apparently the whole area had been rediscovered through literature, after an american writer (Washington Irving?) whipped up a book set in the palace. He´s now been immortalised in hotel names, pub names, plaques, statues, and a coctail at the Ramada Inn. Anyway, we liked it too, so perhaps after reading this page, the kind people of Granada will dedicate a street to us or something - doesnt need to be much, just to show a little thanks.

We´re only staying here for another two days, and with a walking tour already planned for tomorrow there won´t be much time for paella until we hit Ronda (more old stuf, and perhaps some mountian hikes...) on Monday.
