Winding Down and Chilling Out

Feeling a little frazzled after our big effort to stay got undermined we headed on the 9 o´clock bus from Girona out to the seaside haven of Cadaques. For those who have been keeping track of our moves, we did visit Cadaques for a day when Rowenas parents were here, and were so impressed we decided to return for a few more days.

Our little spanish paradise was absolutely wonderful, and the photos simply don´t do it justice. Many times we were caught standing rock still lost in a daydream as we stared out at the beautiful town and it´s rocky surrounds.

On wednesday we decided on a short hike out to the closer of two lighthouses which guard the trecherous coast. Setting off we had no idea that the wind would pick up, as it then did, to a point where we were left clinging to our clothes (esp Rowena in her new skirt) and leaning forward into the wind as we tramped around. As you can see, however, the view was well worth it.

As our accomodation was more than twice the price of that in Girona we could only stay a short while (3 nights) before having to forceably peel ourselves off the beach. A short bus ride (with the same driver AGAIN) and we were back in the familiar old city of Girona.

If you ever get the chance to go to Spain, can I recommend that you ditch the guidebooks, the tour busses and the budget airlines, and make a beeline for Cadaques. You can even eat in restaurants which have signs banning papparazzi. Oooh, must be famous people about. Not so sure that a sign will deter a photographer though.

In short, the perfect way to say goodbye to the country we´ve called home (and a few other things) for the past 10 weeks. So now we´re back in Girona finalising all the UK trip details, and planning our triumphant return to the sunburnt country. Sunburnt.
